| The 2009 Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival will be held on 24-25 October. It is held on the fourth weekend of October each year in the Hawkesbury area of NSW, Australia.
The Festival kicks off on Friday night, 23 October, with a talk by Les Dollin on: The 200th Anniversary of the Settlement of Kurrajong. This special talk and an accompanying display will be held at 7pm in the CWA Hall in the main street of Kurrajong Village. This event is presented by the Kurrajong Comleroy Historical Society. The display, featuring early pioneer families and the location of the early land grants, will also be shown in the hall through out the weekend of 24-25 October. Come along and see who originally owned the land where you live! Scarecrows built by local families around the Kurrajong district are judged on the Saturday. Category winners were awarded certificates and great prizes donated by local businesses. Then on the Sunday scarecrows are brought into Memorial Park in Kurrajong for the 'Spectacle of Scarecrows'. This year, Gardening Guru, Don Burke, will be there to judge a Doggy Dress Up competition and there will be a roaming group of Star Wars characters. Market stalls are erected in the street and the crowds enjoy performances by local children and musical artists.
