Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival

The 2008 Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival will be held on 25th - 26th October in the Hawkesbury area of NSW, Australia.

The overall winner of the 2007 Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival was a huge dinosaur scarecrow called 'Tyranno-straw-us Rex'. The McKeown-Todd family who made this display was awarded the 'Margaret Garcia Trophy' -- a magnificent gold cup.

Scarecrows built by local families around the Kurrajong district were judged on the Saturday, then on the Sunday scarecrows were brought into Memorial Park in Kurrajong for the 'Spectacle of Scarecrows'. Kurrajong Public School again won prizes in the Best School and Special Projects categories. Category winners were awarded certificates and great prizes donated by local businesses.

2007 was the eleventh anniversary of the Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival. The Kurrajong-Comleroy Historical Society presented a display of historic photographs called 'War and Peace in The Kurrajong'. The Young Talent Quest and the Kurrajong Scarecrow Cup were also on again.
