2008 Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival

2008 was the twelth anniversary of the Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival. Scarecrows were displayed by roadsides all around the town.

On the Sunday a large crowd gathered in Memorial Park to enjoy market stalls, dance and musical performances by local children and displays of blacksmith work, sheep shearing, alpacas, World War II vehicles and much more. The Kurrajong Fire Brigade ran a popular sausage sizzle to feed the crowds.

The Kurrajong-Comleroy Historical Society presented a fascinating display of old parish maps from Kurrajong and district in the CWA Hall. Visitors were excited to discover the history of their own properties on these early maps. This display was a preview for an even larger exhibition that will be held in October 2009, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the settlement of Kurrajong.
